Halo 3 High Definition Trailer
Saturday, May 27th, 2006I’ve officially been reprimanded for not posting the Halo 3 trailer. Duly noted. In March rumors were floating that the game would have four-player co-operative play and feature large, persistent worlds that would be dynamically affected by in-game events. May’s Game Informer magazine discussed a rumor that Bungie was teaming with Ensemble Studios to create a Halo first-person shooter massively multiplayer online game for the Xbox 360 codenamed Orion. I am looking forward to playing the next gen Halo but I’m gonna try and not get all excited about it because it’s not slated for release until next year. Still, the trailer is pretty awesome:
So the last line, This is the way the world ends, is lifted verbatim from one of my favorite poems by one of my favorite poets: T.S. Eliot‘s The Hollow Men. But with the with the explosion in the denoument of the trailer, the folks at Bungie directly contradict Eliot, who says:
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.
Perhaps Team Halo is taking themselves a bit too seriously. Or maybe it’s just a great line. For all you Halo freaks, read The Hollow Men. Read it aloud.
Get the high-def trailer directly from Bungie in Quicktime or Windows Media formats.
