Barry Bonds Passes Babe Ruth
I know this is a little late but there’s usually a bit of a delay between a current event and when some video of the event gets posted. That, and, like many people, I’m awfully ambivalent about Barry Bonds passing Babe Ruth with home run number 715.
I think he’s an amazingly talented baseball player. I don’t know if I can remember a player with such a good eye and with such patience and discipline at the plate. So with a player that good, it’s hard not to get caught up in the moment of a historic event:
Major League Baseball forced YouTube to remove the clip of the Fox Sports broadcast. Wake up, you guys. Football has surpassed you as the national sport; a little free media might just help ticket sales. But they’ll probably complain about fan-generated clips next (found at YouTube from gotricekid):
This one’s has a little better angle, is a little closer and less shaky, and has a cute kid in it. I found it at Google Video from JH):
This is the guy who caught 715 (found at YouTube from jackpalance):
Yet, still, there are many who believe as I do that the record is tarnished because of his alleged steroid use. I believe he used the juice. And Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron did not. How’s that fair to them? Myneighborshateyou at YouTube is so incensed that he uploaded a protest video:
