The Replacements Videos
The Replacements, the great Minneapolis band of the early 80s, have a new Best Of compilation (Don’t You Know Who I Think I Was?) out today that includes two new singles.
You can listen to the new album online because Rhino Records is streaming (Real or Win or QT) it for free.
Newsweek interviews Paul Westerberg about the album and Newsday covers them as well.
Check out their Twin Tones page for some high-res photos of the band and watch some video of Westerberg at this Sessions @ AOL page.
Visit this fan page for some MP3s of a 2004 Paul Westerberg show at The Pantages.
Finally this bit of trivia from the cute and infamous Minnesota shoplifter, Winona Ryder, comes from a 1990 Movieline interview with the actress:
"Heathers is the most amazing piece of literature ever. It’s one of those things that you take out and read every year. Dan Waters told me that he listened to the Replacements and the Cocteau Twins while he wrote Heathers. You can tell that when you read the script. It becomes really obvious…I wonder if Paul Westerberg ever saw Heathers. God, the Replacements are so great."
The movie is set at Westerburg High and many of the lines from the movie are taken from Mats songs.
This playlist consists of music videos for both The Replacements and Paul Westerberg as well as two sets worth of live music from a 1981 show at First Avenue’s 7th Street Entry:
