Iraqi Sandstorms
I found this on Google’s Top 100 Videos. It’s an amazing clip that some of our troops took of a sandstorm in Iraq. It literally shuts out the sun:
Here’s another, longer clip that shows a sandstorm at Al Asad Air Base. It approaches in the distance slowly, inexorably:
The clips remind me of a Japanese existentialist novel (odd, I know) by Kobo Abe , called Woman In The Dunes. The novel vividly describes how the desert sand winnows its way into every nook and cranny and aspect of life.
