MST3K – Space Mutiny
I was sad when Mystery Science Theater 3000 was cancelled because it was a clever idea and it was a homegrown, Minnesota production. The idea, in case you’ve never seen it, was to add running sarcastic commentary to very bad B-movies, particularly science fiction films.
But I think MST3K was before it’s time because it’s the perfect entertainment for the time-shifted era. I might’ve DVRed it when it was running had I had a DVR at the time, but I certainly wouldn’t have done appointment television for it. Who knows, maybe it will enjoy a revival now that the shows can be uploaded.
Episode 820 lampoons the movie Space Mutiny. I was surprised to learn that Space Mutiny was released in 1988; the production values are so bad, I figured it was much older. Episode 820 runs 1:32:00:
