History Of Apple’s iPod
I am always a bit annoyed when the History Channel runs a program about the "history" of a corporation. They’ve run, for example, a "history" of Ford Motors. While the company certainly deserves its place in the development of automobiles and as a major force in the economy of our nation, these "history" programs feel like 30 minute advertisements. They conveniently fail to mention any controversies regarding their subject, such as Ford’s Crown Victoria’s fuel tank safety concerns.
That said, I came across this Discovery Channel program on the history of Apple’s iPod and I think it’s worth a watch because Apple’s ressurection on the strength of the iPod is one of the great American business and music stories. A company that had been left for dead is now thriving thanks to some technological innovation that revolutionized the music industry by making product distribution simple, effortless, and global.
The iPod has been so successful that the company is now spinning off other products under the iBrand. Yesterday, it was the iPhone. Watch:
