opens tomorrow. They’re calling  it an inspiring true story and I guess it is in many ways but for me it’s the ultimate fantasy: To be able to try out for a professional football team. Damn! Wouldn’t that be cool?

The movie stars as , a season ticket holder who tried out for the 1976 team after then-rookie head coach announced he would have open tryouts. plays Vermeil and looks uncannily like the young coach.

In 1963 sports writer attended spring training with the and ran a few plays from scrimmage as a quarterback for the team during an exhibition game.
